Use an Audio Effect App.
Some are good, some... not so much. One thing is for sure though: you won't be lacking options. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of them on the Google Play store.
We've tried many of those audio quality improving apps, bass booster apps and, low volume booster apps, with different
but also on different smartphones' built-in speakers.
Those apps seem to work on most, if not all devices, including Samsung Galaxy S', Sony Xperia, Oppo, Huawei Smart P, OnePlus and, Xiaomi Mi. And Android tablets too.
We've put them to the test playing many music genres, from Rap & Hip-hop music to classical music, Jazz, Pop music, Electro & Dance music, Latino music, Afrobeat, Reggaeton, Dubstep, Rock, and so on.
We mainly tried to figure out which ones offer:
Of course, they must all work with all media players, social apps, and music and video streaming app.
Here is a list of all the best video or music players and social apps you can find on Android we tested them with:
Whether you want to
we believe you will find happiness in this article.
Here is our review of the Top 10 Best Audio Effect Apps for Android, all categories combined. We tried to be as complete and honest as possible, sometimes tough. Enjoy!

What can we say?...
This is by far our new best choice. It recently came out, it's all-in-one and yet, very focused.
It really sounds different from all the other apps, and better.
From what we understand, most apps kind of use the same audio effect implementation. Only the UI differs in most cases.
But with °SOUND° Beautifier, you really get a different sound; with deep, fat, popping bass. It's clean and just makes you want to dance.
It doesn't stop there. The Google Play description claims the app can "Beautify" the sound by exciting the audio signal with some magic on the audio frequencies.
Well... WOW! It works and it's amazing. To the point where you get chills with emotional songs. Just read the reviews!
You somehow hear more details of the voices and instruments, even on lower
quality headphones
and speakers. The sound is more "in your face", warm and spacious.
Entry-level Huawei phones for instance are known to have a bad Bluetooth audio quality.
This
helps them save face.
We were especially amazed by how easy it is to use and how instantly you get fantastic results. No matter how little you know about audio engineering, you can't miss!
There's even an automatic volume adjuster to save your ears from volume bumps when switching between presets.
One can clearly tell it has been developed by experienced audio engineers.
We especially loved the "Emotional ♡" preset for love songs and the "Platinum 5D Max" preset for more nightclub songs. To unlock them, you will have to watch rewarded ads though; but what are 30 seconds for such a unique music experience?
Nice job developers! We really had to search for cons for this one.

In second place is the equalizer and sound booster app by KUCAPP. And my god, it's good!
Everything you expect is there! "Music Equalizer - Bass Booster & Volume Booster" is absolutely complete in terms of features.
They also got something right that the other following apps didn't; some kind of magic in the user experience.
It's a very professionally made mobile app: everything is well though, especially ergonomically.
One of our favorite features is the ability to switch on and off the equalizer's bands individually, so you can compare with and without your setting per frequency band.
The second is that you can switch between tracks of your playlist while tweaking the effects. Unfortunately, you can't select from a list, but that's not the point of the app.
And the third, but no less amazing, is the number of themes. And they are all free! Actually, the whole app is free, even to remove the ads. To do so, you just have to go through the menu and watch 5 rewarded ads to earn points.
One regret though is that their logo doesn't stand out from other apps in this listing. Many kind of look the same. This app deserves a better icon on your phone!
Note: from this app, down our list, all the apps use pretty much the same EQ implementation (besides #9 SpotiQ). So their pros and cons don’t really vary in terms of audio quality.
Nonetheless, KUCAPP clearly gave the best version and the most exciting one in our opinion. It’s a really pleasant app to use, everything is neat.
We love the fact that every audio effect is controllable from one single interface, just like in #1 °SOUND° Beautifier™.

As said for #2 Music Equalizer - Bass Booster & Volume Booster, this one uses mostly the same 10 band equalizer implementation, so it sounds very close, if not identical on some aspects.
The interface here has more of a "digital" feel to it, for a completely different taste. Everything is neat, without any defaults.
This is the first one of our Top 10 that unfortunately doesn't condense everything on a single interface though.
But it was worth it given the amazing virtualizer they were able to place in. It really fits well with the rest of the app's design and it can be turned off to save battery. Also switching between the 2 screens is as simple as a single swipe. Well played!
It offers a ton of themes too. If you can't find one you love, something is wrong with you ;).
One strange thing to notice: it has the same basic theme elements as #5 Equalizer & Bass Boost. We can't tell who copied whom (most probably Ijoysoft borrowed from Coocent given the 2 apps’ launch dates), but it's very efficient and intuitive.
The presets are selectable from a list. We would have loved it if our custom presets could be placed at the top of the list though, not at the bottom. But if you select them from the notification, it doesn't change much.
Overall, it's a very well deserved 3rd place. It lacks a bit of the feel of love for the music the first 2 equalizers have (it feels more ads revenue centric, even though we appreciate the absence of interrupting ads). The most important thing is that it does the job pretty well sound quality wise.

One sentence: equalizer distortion control! Just like with the first 3, boost all the frequency bands to the max and it still sounds clean. Great!
This one has a more "real device" within your smartphone vibe to it. One good thing to notice is that all the language translations are correct (not the case for some apps in this list).
One of the reasons it didn't make the top 3 is the interface and the low number of themes: all a bit kitsch for our taste. Please developers, improve it! The sound boosting quality deserves a better UI design. But that's us being picky...
Another reason is the number of ads. They're close to everywhere, anywhere you click.
Don't miss the second screen accessible by clicking on the top-left button otherwise you will miss one of the most important effects of the app: the volume booster. Also the virtualizer, and the in-app media player playlist controller.
We are clearly going to keep an eye on this app for future versions. It should be in the top 3, at least ex aequo.

To start, this should be 2nd ex aequo in our top 10. We will explain why it's not (yet), and we regret it.
Bass Booster & Equalizer is CLEAN and very stable! It's one of the apps that offer an all-in-one-screen experience. And it's very very well presented. We really like the ergonomic.
It's also very decent in terms of ads. Nothing interrupting or too intrusive.
The stability is top-notch.
And most importantly, the sound quality is just as good as #2 Music Equalizer - Bass Booster & Volume
Booster: the sound distortion at extreme equalizer band levels is
very well managed.
So what stopped us from putting it in the top 3?
Well, the volume-boosting functionality. It's not well placed at all in our opinion.
To access it, you have to change your device's audio volume from the physical side buttons of your device and, only then a dialog pops up from which you can control both the device's sound volume (which is redundant then) and the volume boost. And one very big problem with the 2 sliders controlling those levels: they jump straight to where you click on them. So if you're not very careful, it will explode your ears!
Others have the same popup but they also have the volume boost control on the main interface(s).
If only the volume booster could be controlled from the main interface, with a progressive slider or knob like the other audio effect controls, then it would make it in the top 3 without hesitation.
Even on tablets where there is more room, such a control is not present on the main interface.
Now back to the good points: we really believe it's an original work from Coocent. The interface is very well thought and pleasant to use and look at. Everything is fluid, specifically the visualizers, more so than in #3 Equalizer Pro - that again seems to have borrowed the theme.
Well done Coocent developers!

This is the heartbreaker!
As for some of the others that use the same 10 band EQ implementation, the audio distortion is very well managed by a limiter. The audio effects all do what they're supposed to, and well.
It has all the goodies:
The thing we actually didn't like so much is that you only get 4 themes and, we're not big fans of them.
If it wasn't for the theming, it would make it 2nd ex aequo too.
Yes, we are a bit tough on this one putting it at the 6th position but user experience starts with the eyes and, this sound booster really deserves a better UI given its audio performance.
So we will keep an eye on it too for future versions.
Stop breaking our heart Dreams Room developers!

This is one of the most original ones in terms of interface design. It's floating with a see-through overlay. Noice!
It's so well organized that they didn't bother using the whole screen. Very insolent!
But again we prefer an all-in-one interface experience.
It seems the choice here has been made to be able to show ads between interface switches. And talking about ads, there can be way too many of them at some times. But like for many others, just watch 5 rewarded ads from the settings menu, and problem solved.
Our humble opinion is that it could use more space by going fullscreen, thus allowing for bigger sliders and knobs. They require here more concentration and precision to manipulate that on other apps. Fancy is good, but ease-of-use trumps it. And it could be more user-friendly.
Sound quality-wise, it again uses the same 10 band EQ implementation with good distortion management.
One funny thing to notice is that the equalizer bands are ordered from right to left, the lower frequency bands being on the right. That's very odd, especially for professional sound engineers like us, and also become the visualizer is in the other (correct) direction.
We've also noticed that is shut down randomly more often that the other. Too bad...

The UI here is organized the same way as in #3 Equalizer Pro , with switching between the 2 screens with a single swipe, but without a visualizer. And it looks great with its theming!
There is one very big problem that needs to be solved:
when we set the equalizer's sliders to max level, the sound becomes a bit sickening,
irritating. Your ears won't like it. This happens when the frequency bands
or the limiter are not set up correctly on any audio gear.
We nonetheless put it on our list because if it wasn't for that, it would be in Top 5 with the others.
Needs a fix prunto!

This is the misbehaving one of the bunch.
You will see from the start that it's very aggressive on the user: it asks you to modify some settings in your Android settings to allow it to survive OS optimization. Well, that one is acceptable.
Then it suggested to us to uninstall the other audio effect apps, listing them explicitly, pretending their presence would compromise its functioning. Well, that's just wrong and incorrect! Just close them and, you'll be good to go. We really didn't like that. We are actually amazed that Google Play would allow such behavior.
Now, on the bright side:
We loved the 5 band EQ! It's the only reason it made in on our top 10, and it's a pretty good one. The EQ is very pleasant, so we give them a pass.
Very good choice of frequencies and 5 bands are most user-friendly than 10.
It seems to use an ingenious algorithm that boosts the volume automatically while you change the EQ band levels. As a result, you're supposed to always get the same global sound level, that's AMAZING!
It also adds a warmness to the final equalizationon headphones and earbuds. It's not really make for Bluetooth speakers though.
One annoying thing with the algorithm though: it's very unstable. It won't blow your ears but sometimes you have to retouch the EQ sliders for the volume booster to be set back to a correct level.
You really have to play with it to get it right, and then you get an amazing sound quality, at least on Headphones.
As you can guess, that wasn't too hard for us as professionals but it could be a bit frustrating on the average user who just wants to enjoy their music and casually play with the effect.
Yes, that's it. 9, that's already a lot of sound boosters for you to try out.
If we were to explain what was wrong with all the others we tried - and there were plenty of them - here are some of the most frequent problems we found:
Now, we may have missed some worthy ones but the ones we've found in our research didn't have good enough ratings to be studied in depth.
We really focused on offering you our honest Top 10-1.
In our Top 10-1 list of the best sound boosters and equalizers, most seem to reuse the same elements, like their notification control and 10 band audio equalizer implementation, with the same frequency ranges per band.
Original ones are definitely
For the others listed, even in the top 5, we can't say who took inspiration from whom for sure.
Some also miss a good audio limiter to control excessive distortion at high volume boost, which is unforgiving in terms of sound quality on smartphones since they don't offer any room for level peaks like professional studio gears do.
Our heart and ears definitely go to #1 °SOUND° Beautifier™ being the most professional one, with a delicious and precise sound on any speakers or headphones, outclassing the others by defining their own standard.
But keep in mind that we all have a different ear and different tastes so the one we picked might not be the one you would. We clearly focused on sound characteristics trained professional ears pay attention to, love or, are shocked by. And of course, emotion. We're talking about music and art here!
It's for you to find out which one(s) correspond to your ideal Android audio effects set(s).
Careful though: make sure you close all the other apps before trying each one as they compete for the
Android OS's audio
system;
you will not get the same sound as you would if they were really
tested seperately otherwise.
